Carolyn Jaret, the owner of El Dorado Audiology, reflects that earning her Master’s Degree in Audiology twenty years after graduating from college and starting a family was “the best mid-life crisis I could have ever had.” With July 5th marking the 20th anniversary of El Dorado Audiology – it seems that she was right.
Carolyn chose this particular field after being married for 18 years to her severely hearing-impaired husband, a primary care physician in Tucson. “If the only thing I got from going back to school at age 37 was helping my family, then it was well worth it.”
Carolyn started El Dorado Audiology 20 years ago with just a single receptionist to help her. Her main goal was to help families avoid the difficulties that her family had experienced due to her husband’s hearing loss. The key to the practice’s longevity and success has always been putting patients and families first. Her audiology practice has now grown to 15 employees, including five hearing instrument specialists and a dedicated support staff. “We can test someone’s hearing and demonstrate the benefits they can receive from the latest digital technology. Unlike many practices, we can even fit most patients with their new hearing devices at the same appointment,” Carolyn proudly notes.
Hearing loss, sometimes referred to as a “hidden handicap” is complex. Carolyn explains that “each person reacts differently to sound, so it is important that we offer follow-up appointments on a regular basis, at no additional cost to the patient.” This complete hearing healthcare service includes testing, evaluation, adjustments, and monthly educational events. These services make a huge difference in their patients’ ability to communicate with others, dramatically improving their quality of life.
Motivated by the health and happiness of her family has not only changed Carolyn’s life but the lives of countless others as well – this is a labor of love for her.
