Take this opportunity to fly nonstop from Tucson International Airport (TUS), during this spring season. Alaska Airlines offers nonstop flights to North Seattle/Everett, WA, Portland, OR, and Orange County, CA, all end on April 15. Year-round nonstop flights to Alaska’s hub in Seattle will continue. Service to Minneapolis/St. Paul on Delta and Sun Country ends for the season on April 15th as well. United Airlines’ nonstop flights to Chicago (ORD) end for the summer on May 22nd, (American Airlines continues year-round). A strong close to the season can lead to a longer operation of these flights next year. Additionally, we must fly local to retain air service for our Southern Arizona community.
Paine Field Airport (PAE) – North Seattle/Everett, Washington
Flying into Seattle, known as the Emerald City, is a sight of evergreen trees, the blue water of Puget Sound, Lake Washington, and the Pacific Ocean. Famous for coffee, the city is vibrant and cosmopolitan. The Space Needle, built for the 1962 World’s Fair, is still a major attraction even if it is a mid-20th-century look at the future.
Portland International Airport (PDX) – Portland, Oregon
Portland is known as the City of Roses for its scenic beauty and eco-friendly urban planning. Initially, it was one of the first cities in the U.S. to embrace the microbrewery phenomenon, now offering more than 75 craft breweries in the metro area. With its historical appeal, “Mill Ends Park”, the world’s smallest park is in Portland.
John Wayne Airport (SNA) – Orange County, California
Visitors will pack their essential beach bag for a perfect day at the Orange County 42-mile coastline of beach and beach towns, from Huntington, Laguna, Newport, and San Clement to Seal Beach. The sun, surf, and sand define Orange County as a beach gateway. Southwest’s nonstop flights to Chicago-Midway become daily year-round on March 7, providing Tucsonans with an additional daily, year-round airline option to Chicagoland and easy connections to the East Coast. American Airlines also flies nonstop to Chicago-O’Hare daily, year-round.
Things to see include the Art Institute of Chicago, Navy Pier, Chicago Architecture River Cruise, Chicago Pizza Tours, and Wrigley Field.
