In 2023, nearly one million trips were taken by local residents through Tucson International Airport (TUS). With a hassle-free journey of shorter lines and convenient parking, flying out of TUS supports the Tucson Airport Authority’s (TAA) efforts when presenting the business case for additional service to the airlines.
TUS provides easy and convenient flights with only a one-stop connection to more than 400 cities. The following five markets are marked as the top destinations without year-round nonstops. You can fly to any city, on your choice of any of the five largest airlines in the US from TUS.
Portland (PDX) (see image above)
Portland prides itself on its eclectic appeal. It was one of the first cities in the U.S. to embrace the microbrewery phenomenon and now has more than 75 craft breweries in the metro area. The City of Roses and the area surrounding are known for the scenic beauty of the International Rose Test Garden.
Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP)
Visit the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Minneapolis and neighboring Saint Paul are the urban core of the Twin Cities, the gateway to the clean air and all the outdoor possibilities of Minnesota. Must things to see around the twin cities include the Mall of America, Minneapolis Institute of Art, and Minneapolis Skyway System.
Washington D.C. (DCA, IAD, BWI)
Washington, D.C. is a historical destination of must-see monuments, museums, and sightseeing activities. The nation’s capital, established as a district, was founded in 1791 and located along the Potomac River on the East Coast. The Smithsonian Museums, a world-renowned museum and research institute, consists of 17 museums, galleries, and a zoo, such as the National Air & Space Museum, National Museum of American History, and National Postal Museum, along with inspiring and artistic discoveries of history and culture.
Boston (BOS)
Consider the Northeast’s most historical and popular cities for festivals, public art, culture, and sports. Boston is home to world-class museums, historical sports stadiums, and spirited neighbors. Top Boston attractions are the Freedom Trail, the Museum of Fine Arts, and a Swan Boat ride in the Boston Public Garden.
Sacramento (SMF)
Sacramento is embracing what it has to offer visitors, such as centering on being America’s Farm-to-Fork Capital or its historic place as the focal point of the 1849 California Gold Rush. There’s also the State Capitol. Gold Country, where gold was discovered, in 1848, is about 1½ hours’ drive southeast of Sacramento – and an important wine-growing region with more than 200 wineries and vineyards. The annual Farm-to-Fork is a celebration for visitors to explore the diverse local culinary scene.
